How to Measure Your Litter-Box Corner
A useful fit starts with the box, the exit path and the floor around it.
Start with the way your cat exits
Watch where your cat steps after using the box. Measure the clear floor space along that route, including the area beside a top-entry or side-entry box. A mat that fits under the box may still leave the exit path uncovered.
Record usable floor space
Write down the available width and depth. Check door clearance, nearby furniture and any raised floor trim. Compare those measurements with the dimensions of the exact mat, rather than judging its size from a close-up photograph.
Compare the surface and opening
Honeycomb, ribbed and other textured surfaces are different constructions. Look for clear photographs of the top, underside and opening. If a mat uses two layers, understand how those layers separate for emptying. Do not assume every textured mat opens the same way.
Keep care instructions nearby
The correct cleaning method depends on the material and backing. Check the manufacturer’s instructions before choosing cleaners, machine washing or using heat to dry the mat. Plan a place to let it dry fully before returning it to the floor.
